St.Catherine Chamber of Commerce calls for information on how SOE in St. Catherine North will be implemented

President of the St. Catherine Chamber of Commerce, Denis Robothom is calling for information on how the State of Emergency (SOE) imposed on the St. Catherine North Division will be implemented.

The SOE came into effect this morning.

The authorities say the division, especially Spanish Town and surrounding areas remains volatile following last week’s unrest.

There has been a surge in violence following the fatal police shooting of alleged One Order gang leader, Othniel “Thickman” Lobban.

Following the incident, the security forces requested immediate intervention to address the escalating threat to public safety and prevent further destabilization.

Mr. Robothom says that while business people support the actions by the security forces, they need information such as the hours they will be allowed to operate.

He says having the information will help residents to adjust to the restrictions.

The Chamber President states that there is a downturn in business and the SOE will have further implications.

The Commissioner of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff are appealing to the public for full cooperation as the security forces intensify operations and protect the lives and livelihoods of law-abiding residents.
