Preparations for Hurricane Beryl are in high gear in southern parishes.

This as the Category 5 system is expected to reach the island by tomorrow.

It is projected that southern parishes will be impacted the most.

Mayor of Black River Richard Solomon told IRIE FM news that all plans are in place and shelters are on standby.

He said areas such as new market are vulnerable to flooding.

Meanwhile, over in Manchester, Mayor of Mandeville Donovan Mitchell said the final preparations are underway.
