Portland Police charge Haitian man accused of killing his countryman during altercation earlier this month

The Portland Police have slapped a murder charge on a Haitian man accused of killing his countryman during an altercation in Windsor Forest District earlier this month.

He is 41-year-old fisherman Claudy Phany, otherwise called “Nak Nak.”

The charge relates to the death of 53-year-old laborer Osly Delphonse.

Reports are that on Sunday, February 16, Delphonse and a group of undocumented Haitian nationals were at a location when an argument developed between them that became physical.

During the altercation, Phany allegedly punched Delphonse causing him to fall.

He sustained head injuries and was taken to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

A report was made to the police and an investigation was launched.

Phany was arrested on Monday and charged after an interview in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalized.

The lawmen continue to investigate the whereabouts of the other Haitians.

Meanwhile, the Portland Police have charged two men with harboring an alien after three Haitian nationals were discovered in Windsor Forest last week Tuesday.

Charged are 54-year-old carpenter Morris Myers, otherwise called “Freddy” and 28-year-old Oshane Mardo, both of Portland.

The Port Antonio police report that at about 9:30 P.M., a team of officers visited the residence of Myers and Mardo after receiving information about undocumented immigrants in the area.

Officers discovered three persons of Haitian descent residing at both dwellings.

The accused men were taken into custody.

Myers and Mardo were charged last Thursday following a question-and-answer session.

Their court date is being finalized.
