Popcaan pays tribute to the ancestors amid observance of Black History Month

In a tribute to his ancestory, during a month dedicated to observing black history, dancehall star Popcaan recently visited the historic Cape Coast Castle in Ghana, a site that serves as a haunting reminder of the transatlantic slave trade.

The Unruly hitmaker documented his experience on social media, sharing several videos of his tour through the castle’s dungeons, where millions of Africans were once held captive.

Reflecting on the significance of his visit, Popcaan wrote, “Went to pay respect to my ancestors today, we’re great because we stand on the shoulders of giants… Black power!”

The St Thomas native is no stranger to Ghana and the motherland in general, he has visited several times and has collaborated with several African dancehall acts including Ghanaians Saminim and J. Derobie, Nigerians Mr. Eazi, Burna boy and Davido among others.
