Political analyst describes speeches made at JLP conference, yesterday as pre-election presentations
Political Analyst, Linton Gordon has described the speeches made by Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) members at the party’s 81st annual conference in Kingston, yesterday as pre-election presentations.
Yesterday, JLP Chairman, Robert Montague expressed hope that discussions will continue with the United States to allow Jamaicans with a clean record to have visa free access to the U.S.
Additionally, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that the general consumption tax (GCT) on electricity will be reduced from 15 to 7% starting next year.
He also revealed that pensioners and vulnerable Jamaicans disconnected from the National Water Commission’s network for over 2 years will have their debts fully written off and re-connection fees waived.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, Mr. Gordon said the announcements do not seem genuine.
In relation to Mr. Montague’s visa free access comment, Mr. Gordon said it is very unlikely that Jamaicans will be allowed to visit the U.S. without a visa.
