Police warn citizens to be vigilant when buying vehicles
Jamaicans are being urged to be vigilant when buying a used motor car to ensure that the vehicle had not been stolen.
Detective Inspector Marcel Bedward, from the Stolen Motor Vehicle Unit, says the police have recovered stolen vehicles from people who purchased them from thieves, unknowingly.
He is encouraging buyers to make checks with the police before they complete the purchase of a motor vehicle.
He is urging those purchasing vehicles to use bank transfers, as this will help the police, if an investigation is undertaken.
He was speaking at the St. Catherine South police division town hall meeting yesterday.
