Police urge principals to take no-nonsense approach to violence in schools

Head of police area 5, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Phillips has urged principals and educators to take a no-nonsense approach when it comes to ensuring safety and security at their schools.

Speaking at a safe schools meeting in St. Catherine South, ACP Phillips urged effective collaboration within the school community.

He said this will allow the sharing of knowledge, resources and expertise to address safety concerns, prevent violent incidents and respond effectively in times of crisis.

ACP Phillips said teachers, parents and students must play their part to ensure a secure environment that allows students to thrive.

He added that the police are committed to increasing the presence of school resource officers, supporting safety and security committees and fostering an overall culture of safety.
