Three Westmoreland women are facing criminal charges following an altercation at a gas station in whithorn on Thursday, February 19, which left a woman nursing severe burns.

Parts of the altercation were captured on a video which has been making the rounds on social media.

Preliminary reports indicate that a dispute between the parties escalated into a physical confrontation during which a flammable substance was used.

One woman sustained severe burn injuries and was initially treated at hospital in the parish before being transferred to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James for specialist care.

Another woman also received injuries during the altercation.

Investigators have launched a probe into the matter.

The police said statements have been recorded, and the case file is being prepared for submission to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for ruling.

The police said charges are anticipated.
