Police seek legal advice on possible charges for monkeypox patient who left isolation
Discussions are ongoing between the police and the Ministry of Health to determine what actions are to be taken against the monkeypox patient who left isolation at the May Pen Hospital, in Clarendon yesterday.
He has since been returned to the facility after reportedly going to a relative’s house in the parish.
Head of the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay said the authorities are still assessing what direction to take.
SSP Lindsay said it was too early to say if any charges would be laid against the patient.
She noted that it is also not yet determined if the people who were at the premises where the patient was found will be charged.
