Meta smart glasses footage helped capture man following gold chain theft
Written byShanice Gibbs
Footage captured on Meta smart glasses worn by a Canadian man is reportedly helping police build a case against the individual accused of snatching his wife’s gold chain in Downtown Kingston.
The incident happened along Mark Lane on Monday November 2, as the couple walked along the roadway.
Police say 38-year-old Osaka Gillespie, otherwise called ‘Saka’, allegedly approached the couple, snatched the chain from the woman’s neck and fled.
Investigators later extracted footage from the husband’s glasses, which reportedly helped implicate Gillespie.
He was arrested, identified by the complainant and charged with larceny from the person.
Gillespie is scheduled to appear in Kingston and St. Andrew parish court on November 9.
