Police say man detained during probe of Private Ejay Domville’s murder was not a serving member of the JCF

Police have clarified that a man taken into custody during the investigation of Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) member Ejay Domville’s murder was not a serving member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

The police have also indicated that the 31-year-old man is not directly connected to the death of the soldier.

In a statement this afternoon, the JCF said it has taken note of reports that a serving member of the JCF was arrested in connection with the homicide of Private Domville.

It said those reports are false. The Constabulary stressed that no serving member of the JCF has been taken into custody in relation to this matter.

It explained that as part of the investigation into the death of Private Domville, which occurred on Friday, August 23, this year, police apprehended the 31-year-old resident of Charles Street at approximately 12:10 P.M on Saturday September 28, 2024.

The JCF said the individual was taken to the Major Investigations Division (M.I.D) for questioning.

It noted that the man was dismissed as a trainee from the force over two years ago, following an unstated incident.

The Constabulary said the man’s apprehension occurred during the course of the investigation but is not directly connected to the death of the JDF private.

The JCF added that it remains committed to working closely with partners in the JDF to bring the investigation to a swift and just conclusion.
