783 people were murdered in Jamaica up to Saturday August 31.
This is 147 fewer than the 930 killed in the corresponding period, last year.
According to data from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), St. James continues to record the highest number of murders with 92, followed by Westmoreland with 68.
Portland recorded the least number of murders with 7.
Meantime, the JCF is reporting reductions in rapes, robberies and break-ins.
Cases of rape declined by 106, from 329 to 223.
Robberies went down by 78 from 494 to 416.
Break-ins are down by 54 from 616 t0 562.
