Police probing shooting incident near Alpha Primary; school assures that no child was harmed
The administration of the Alpha Primary School along South Camp Road, in Kingston is assuring that no child was harmed during a shooting incident near the school, this morning (November 4).
The incident occurred at about 8am.
Preliminary reports, are that a taxi driver, was travelling along the roadway, when upon reaching the vicinity of the primary school, two men on a motorcycle approached and opened gunfire at him.
The taxi driver reportedly escaped unhurt, however, the gunfire reportedly startled persons within the area, including students.
Principal Evette Samuels told Irie FM News, that parents should expect communication, including through the school’s WhatsApp group, about their children’s safety.
She added that the school has received support from the Child Protection and Family Services Agency, following the incident.
Meantime, Head of Operations for the Kingston Central Police, Deputy Superintendent, Linval Phoenix says the criminal investigations branch, has launched a probe into the incident.
