Police presence increased in Glengoffe following killing of woman

Police presence will be increased in the Glengoffe community, in St Catherine, following the recent killing of a young woman, by her relative.

Commanding Officer for the St. Catherine North Police Division Senior Superintendent Hopton Nicholson said a temporary solution is to be implemented, while work gets underway for a permanent one.

He was responding to questions from Councillors at yesterday’s meeting of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation.

This is in the wake of the murder of 32 year old Lisa-Gaye Cobre of Retreat District in Glengoffe.

Cobre was reported missing last month, and a search was launched for her.

On Monday, her adopted brother reportedly confessed to being involved in her disappearance.

Then on Tuesday, he led police to a shallow grave near the family home in Retreat where the body of Cobre was found.

The man remains in police custody.
