Police have named three suspects in the murder of two constables along Waltham Park Road in St. Andrew, last evening and has pledged to respond swiftly.

Dead are 30-year-old Constable Charles Stewart, who was attached to the Spanish Town Police and 32-year-old Constable Jemarey Gordon from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch.

Police say at about 7:38 P.M., the officers responded to reports of an altercation involving four men in the area.

The constables who went to the scene were attempting to quell the altercation, when one of the men pulled a weapon killing both officers.

Head of Police Area 4, Assistant Commissioner Michael Phipps, said the JCF is saddened by the killings.

He noted that Cardel Insang, Macarius Munroe and Junior Brown are wanted in relation to the incident and are being urged to surrender to the police.

Meanwhile, ACP Phipps lauded the late officers for their service to the country.

The police high command has assured that a thorough and intensive investigation has been launched into the double murder.

In the meantime, the Constabulary Force’s Chaplaincy Branch and Welfare Division are providing support to the family members, friends and colleagues of the slain constables.
