Police identify 233 individuals as key violence producers
The police have identified 233 individuals as key violence producers.
This classification is part of the Constabulary’s efforts to stem violence across the country.
Head of the Strategic Operations Portfolio, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Warren Clarke, has outlined a targeted approach aimed at apprehending prolific offenders and dismantling the networks fuelling Jamaica’s staggering murder rate.
Speaking at the annual Specialized Operations Branch Conference under the theme “Celebrating Excellence for a Force for Good,” DCP Clarke said the individuals have been classified to maximize the force’s operational efficiency.
Jamaica’s murder rate, which DCP Clarke described as “singularly crippling” to the nation, remains one of the highest in the region.
He highlighted that nearly 1,100 people have been killed this year alone, a figure that rivals death tolls in conflict zones.
