Businesswoman and plumber charged for deadly attack on Police Constable and his family in St. James
Police have charged a businesswoman and a man in relation to the deadly attack on a Police Constable and his family in reading, St. James, earlier this month.
They are, 38-year-old Trafficia Malcolm-Demontagnac, otherwise called ‘traff’ of Catherine Hall in St. James and 23-year-old Plumber, Kadean Nathan of Bethel Town, in Westmoreland.
Malcolm-Demontagnac and Nathan are facing charges of, murder, wounding with intent, using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit wounding with intent and conspiracy to use a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.
The third accused, 24-year-old Orlando Thomas, a carpenter of Argyle Mountain, in Westmoreland, was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police, on Wednesday, August 13.
The charges stem from the killing of 36-year-old Latoya Stephenson, a Human Resources Manager, of West Village, St. James, as well as the wounding of her spouse, who is a policeman, and their 5 year old son.
Reports are that about 8: 45 p-m, on Saturday, August 9, Stephenson and her family drove to a location, along the Reading main road, in Montego Bay, to collect a key from Thomas.
Further reports are that Nathan drove Thomas to the same location.
Stephenson exited her vehicle and retrieved the key.
On her way back to her family’s vehicle, Thomas brandished a firearm and opened fire, hitting Stephenson, the policeman and the child.
The 3 wounded persons were taken to hospital, where Stephenson was pronounced dead, while the man and boy were admitted for treatment.
The child is said to be in critical condition, and has already undergone multiple surgeries.
The police high command later confirmed that members of the Katon Defence Force (KDF) gang were contracted and paid one hundred thousand dollars to kill the policeman and his family.
The cop is attached to the area one Lottery Scam Task Force.
Lawmen fatally shot three men, who were attached to the KDF Gang, following the incident.
One of them is Orlando Thomas, otherwise called ‘Ninja’, who investigators said was a prime suspect.
The others are, alleged leader of the KDF Gang, Andre Reid, otherwise called ‘Likkle Zul’; and, 33 year old Lindel Gray.
Following an investigation into the matter by detectives assigned to the major investigations division, Malcolm-Demontagnac was taken into custody on Wednesday, August 13, during an operation in Burnt Ground, Ramble, in Hanover.
On Saturday, August 16, Nathan turned himself in to the police.
Nathan and Malcolm-Demontagnac were charged after they both gave caution statements outlining their involvement in the incident.
A court date is being arranged for them.
