Police Federation urges cops experiencing mental health challenges to seek help
The Police Federation is urging members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) who are experiencing mental health challenges to seek help.
Among the various groups which provide such help are the Federation and specialised branches of the JCF to include the Chaplaincy Unit.
The appeal comes in the wake of the suspected suicide of a police man yesterday.
Constable Arnold Wilson was reportedly found hanging from an ackee tree by a rope around his neck, at his home in Williamsfield District, St. Elizabeth.
It is reported that Constable Wilson displayed signs of mental instability, following the death of his father overseas, which rendered him unfit for duty, so he was on leave and receiving treatment.
In expressing condolences to the relatives and colleagues of Constable Wilson, Federation Chairman Sergeant Arlene McBean noted, that the late cop was hardworking and committed to his job.
