Police Federation calls on country’s legislators to give cops more support
Amidst what she has described as a series of attacks on law enforcement, Chairman of the Jamaica Police Federation Sergeant Arleen McBean, has called on the country’s legislators to provide more support for the police.
She made the call while speaking at the thanksgiving service for Detective Sergeant Kevin Mayne.
Sergeant Mayne was shot and killed at the Half-Way-Tree police station on July 22, by a businessman who had disarmed another cop.
The businessman, Deon Singh, then turned the gun on himself and was said to have also been shot by at least one of Mayne’s colleagues.
Sergeant McBean said the incident is a wake up call for the nation.
The Police Federation Chair called on legislators to address cases of persons inciting violence.
She noted the need for resources such as drones to bolster the efforts of the police to tackle criminals.
