Police corporal granted bail after appearing in court on charges stemming from 2022 shooting incident in Westmoreland

A police corporal charged with several offences in relation to the non-fatal shooting of two men in Frome, Westmoreland on Christmas Day over 2 years ago, has been granted bail.

Corporal Shawn Walker appeared before the Westmoreland Parish Court yesterday on charges of wounding with intent and discharging a firearm in any place contrary to the stipulations of Section 51 of the Firearms (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act.

According to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), the incident occurred on December 25, 2022 at a sports night club in Frome.

Following an investigation by INDECOM, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions ruled that Corporal Walker should be charged.

When he appeared in court, Corporal Walker was granted $400,000 bail with one to two sureties and reporting conditions.
