Police Commissioner urges parents to ensure greater protection of children as they interact online
Police Commissioner, Dr. Kevin Blake is urging parents to ensure greater protection of children as they interact online.
Speaking recently at the National Child Online Protection Committee Open House, Dr. Blake noted that with children spending more hours in online spaces, vigilance must increase.
He stressed that technological advancements not only come with opportunities, but also risks.
Dr. Blake said parents must be mindful of the influence that online personas have on their children.
He said the children are more receptive to the messages and personas they encounter on social media platforms, compared to those they interact with face-to-face.
Dr. Blake underscored the importance of promoting technological skills so parents are better able to monitor children when they are using social media.
