Police capture man wanted for 2021 murder
A man who was wanted by the St. Catherine North Police for a 2021 murder was captured yesterday.
He is 47-year-old Gregory Ferguson, otherwise called ‘Ruff’ of Duncan’s Pen Road, Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
Ferguson was captured on Cherry Lane in Kitson Town, St. Catherine.
He was wanted for the murder of 22-year-old Cody McLaughlin, also of Duncan’s Pen Road on Sunday, March 7.
Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that at about 9:30 A.M., Ferguson and McLaughlin had an argument at a football field in Ferguson’s community.
It’s alleged that sometime after, Ferguson and other men reportedly went to McLaughlin’s house where the argument escalated, and McLaughlin was shot several times.
He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Following a report into the matter, Ferguson was listed as wanted on the JCF’s Wanted Wednesday campaign.
At about 12:40 P.M. yesterday, lawmen were on an operation in search of wanted men when they saw Ferguson driving a Nissan Tiida motor car along the roadway.
He was signaled to stop, accosted, and searched; the vehicle was also searched.
Police say one Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with a magazine containing six 9mm rounds of ammunition was found in Ferguson’s possession.
He was taken into custody.
