Police and main political parties say smooth sailing so far on election day
The police are reporting a smooth start today’s Local Government Election.
Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gary McKenzie told IRIE FM News that the polling stations have been incident free.
Meantime, Jamaica’s two main political parties are also reporting that so far, voting is progressing smoothly.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, People’s National Party (PNP) General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell said there were only a few minor issues which have been resolved.
He said the PNP will celebrate at the end of the day.
And Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) General Secretary Dr. Horace Chang said he received no report of any issue at polling stations.
He expressed satisfaction with the turnout of supporters.
