PNPYO concerned about recent actions of gov’t members, which it says are undermining Jamaica’s democracy
The People’s National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO) says it is deeply concerned about recent actions of the Andrew Holness-led administration, which it believes are undermining institutions that protect Jamaica’s democracy.
The group cited recent behaviour by government parliamentarians, including member of parliament for Southwest St. Catherine Everald Warmington.
PNPYO president Senator Gabriela Morris said the leaking of sensitive information from the integrity commission’s reports to select media outlets before being formally presented in parliament is also of concern and should be addressed by government.
She added that recent attacks on the Integrity Commission, including the demand for IC chairman Retired Justice Seymour Panton’s resignation, are unacceptable distractions from the real issues at hand.
