PNP vows to continue protesting until Minister Tufton resigns
The People’s National Party, PNP, has vowed to continue protesting, until Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton, resigns.
The calls for the health minister’s resignation follow the deaths of more than a dozen babies at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, reportedly from a bacterial infection.
Yesterday, PNP supporters wrapped up a day of protests, demanding Dr. Tufton’s resignation.
Placard bearing supporters staged demonstrations outside of the Savanna-la-mar public hospital in Westmoreland, and the Noel Holmes hospital in Lucea, Hanover, before moving to the Cornwall Regional Hospital for a candle light vigil.
Speaking at the vigil, minority leader in the St. James Municipal Corporation, Councillor Michael Troupe, said the protests will continue until minister Tufton is relieved of his portfolio.
