PNP supporters protest continued postponement of local gov’t elections and other issues affecting nation
Supporters from the People’s National Party (PNP) staged a demonstration at the Cross Roads Post Office, in Kingston this morning (March 6).
Among the concerns, are the continued postponement of the local government elections, corruption and high prices.
The placard-bearing supporters, who were dressed in black and orange, flocked the post office’s entrance and surrounding area to register their frustration with the ruling Jamaica Labour Party.
PNP Leader, Mark Golding lamented that the Government’s repeated postponement of the local government polls is putting the nation’s democracy at risk.
He said Jamaicans are tired of the games.
Meantime, Councillor for the Allman Town Division, Charmaine Daniels said it is time for the Government to act swiftly to address the issues affecting the nation.
She said too many sectors of society are disgruntled with the Government.
Daniels also highlighted the need for the Government to recognize citizens’ right to vote in the local government elections.
