PNP steps up call for resignation of Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton
The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, has stepped up its protest against Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton calling for his resignation.
Members and supporters of the PNP converged on Grenada Crescent in New Kingston on Wednesday morning.
The members are protesting the health minister‘s support of former Jamaica Labour Party member of parliament, now independent MP George Wright and again highlighting the issue of the bacterial outbreak at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, where several babies died.
The PNP has staged protests at several hospitals across the country since the revelation of the deaths of the babies.
Speaking at the protest on Wednesday, opposition leader Mark Golding demanded accountability for the newborns who died, due to a bacterial outbreak.
The placard bearing protesters were dressed in black. They staged the protest at the ministers office before marching to the offices of the South East Regional Health Authority.
