PNP’s Raymond Pryce urges government and NWC to release dis-aggregated water safety data to public
By Georgetta Williams
People’s National Party senior member Raymond Pryce has called on the government to release the full, dis-aggregated water safety data to the public.
This in the wake of claims and counter claims about the quality of water supplied by the National Water Commission to customers in Kingston and St.Andrew.
His party colleague, Deputy Opposition Spokesman on Health Jesse James Clarke had first raised concern about the water quality but the NWC and the government have chastised Clarke for making false claims.
At a recent press briefing Clarke presented data to substantiate his claims but the government chastised the opposition for seeking to score political points.
Reacting to comments from the government on the issue, Mr. Pryce indicated that the issue is not just about public health; it’s also an environmental and community crisis.
He also underscored the long-term effects of water contamination on public health, on ecosystems and on national productivity.
Pryce is imploring the government and NWC to urgently address the contaminated water issue.
