PNP says it will review the Beach Control Act, expand the senate and create fixed election dates and term limits should it form next Gov’t

Opposition Spokesperson on Justice Senator Donna Scott-Mottley says the People’s National Party will focus on reviewing the Beach Control Act, expanding the senate and creating fixed election dates and term limits should it form the next Government.

Senator Scott-Mottley made the announcements during last evening’s launch of the PNP’s manifesto ahead of the September 3 general election.

The manifesto dubbed “Mission Jamaica Love: A Pledge to Country”, is now available on the PNP’s website and social media pages.

According to Senator Scott-Mottley, the next PNP administration will implement fixed election dates and term limits.

She further noted that the senate will be expanded to include members of the diaspora, persons with disabilities and the rastafari and maroon communities.

She also noted that the Beach Control Act will be reviewed, to ensure that access to beach by citizens is guaranteed while balancing tourism.

And Ms scott-mottley reiterated that the next PNP administration will make Jamaica a republic with a president chosen by the people.
