PNP renews pledge to include diaspora in country’s affairs
On the heels of its tour of the Jamaican diaspora in the United Kingdom and United States, the People’s National Party, (PNP) is renewing its pledge to ensure that members of the diaspora are represented in the affairs of the country.
Between July and October, members of the PNP, including leader Mark Golding, visited Florida, Washington DC, Atlanta and New York in the US and London and Birmingham in the UK.
Reflecting on the tour, Mr. Golding noted that government has to do more to facilitate deeper levels of engagement in nation building by Jamaicans at home and abroad.
He noted that the PNP will encourage the inclusion of diaspora members on public boards, while making it easier for the diaspora to undertake philanthropic efforts back home.
