PNP maintains unconstitutional point, other factors, for not supporting extension of SOEs
The Opposition People’s National Party, PNP, has sought to explain its decision not to support the extension of the states of public emergency, SOEs, saying they are not necessary at this time.
Opposition senators voted against the extension in the Upper House on Friday.
Only one vote from an opposition senator was needed for the SOEs to be extended until January 14 2023.
Speaking at a PNP Press conference on Sunday, Mr Golding said the country is not in a state for which the implementation of SOEs is warranted.
Mr Golding said the use of SOEs over the past five years have disrupted many lives, due to the wrongful detention of many persons.
He added that the actions of the opposition will also ensure, that the entertainment activities in the yuletide season, are not disrupted.
