PNP expresses concern after party supporter was reportedly told to leave Haughton’s Pharmacy

Opposition spokesperson on Justice Senator Donna Scott-Mottley has expressed deep concern following the circulation of a video on social media in which a supporter of the People’s National Party (PNP) was ordered to leave the Haughton’s Pharmacy in Manchester, for simply wearing PNP paraphernalia.

In the video, a worker at the pharmacy can be heard telling the woman that she is not welcome, claiming that the owner does not support the PNP.

In a statement today, Senator Scott Mottley condemned the action.

She said Jamaica must never revert to the dark days of political tribalism that marred the society, in the 1980’s.

And, Haughton’s Pharmacy has issued a statement regarding the video, expressing love for all Jamaicans.

In the statement posted to its Facebook page, Chief Pharmacist Stafford Haughton said Haughton’s Pharmacy has been serving all loyal customers faithfully for 105 years.

It said the incident was not the company’s choice.
