PNP caretakers demand urgent repairs on collapsed bridge linking St Ann and Clarendon

The People’s National Party (PNP) is calling for urgent repairs to the collapsed bridge in Pedro River that connects St. Ann and Clarendon.

PNP caretaker for southeast St. Ann, Dr Kenneth Russell and for north Clarendon Wavell Hinds, both urged the National Works Agency (NWA) and Member of Parliament for north Clarendon, Dwight Sibblies to address the issue.

The bridge, which collapsed in August following an accident involving a motor truck, has left the area impassable, causing significant disruption to local residents.

Dr. Russell says the collapse has forced travellers to take a much longer detour route through Fort George, McNie and Tate, resulting in increased transportation costs and extended travel time.

He adds that many Clarendon residents depend on the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital for medical care and the longer journey has made accessing these services increasingly difficult.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hinds is calling for immediate repairs to alternative roads currently in use.
