PNP calls on Gov’t to immediately implement policy position that moves critical NWC infrastructure onto solar and advanced renewable technology
Opposition Spokesperson on Water Ian Hayles is calling on the Government to immediately implement a policy position that moves critical National Water Commission (NWC) infrastructure onto solar and advanced renewable technology.
He made the call as he noted that the island-wide power outage on the weekend again highlighted a major concern in the island’s water system.
According to Mr Hayles, the NWC treatment plants remain dangerously dependent on the Jamaica Public Service grid, which left thousands of citizens across the country without access to water.
He has demanded immediate answers from the Government and called for an urgent and decisive policy shift.
He said the failure to act is not merely an oversight but a governance crisis that threatens public health, tourism, and the daily lives of citizens in heavily populated communities nationwide.
