The Opposition People’s National Party has called on the government and the National Environment and Planning Agency, NEPA to take immediate action following a recent fish kill in the Rio Cobre, in St. Catherine.
In a statement this afternoon, (August 2), Opposition Spokesperson on Land and Environment, Senator Sophia Frazer-Binns, said she is deeply concerned about the fish kill, which is the latest in a series of such incidents.
She said while government officials have visited the area, more needs to be done to put an end to the act.
She explained that the incident not only affects the environment, as many fisherfolk have been impacted.
