PM urges MPs to avoid being politically biased when recommending beneficiaries for Social Housing Programme
Prime Minister, Andrew Holness is urging Members of Parliament to avoid being politically biased when recommending beneficiaries for the Government’s Social Housing Programme.
The programme which was established in 2018, is aimed at improving the housing condition of the poor and disadvantaged in the country.
Mr. Holness stressed that persons most in need should benefit from the programme.
Noting that too many Jamaicans are living in poor housing conditions, Mr. Holness said a census will be undertaken shortly, to get more accurate information on the number of those in need.
This, he said will help the Government to undertake proper fiscal planning.
The Prime Minister was speaking at a home handing-over ceremony at Trout Hall, Clarendon on Wednesday.
