PM Holness says there is need for significant increase in resources to Haitian Police.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says that in talks with the United States, it was agreed that all possible measures must be taken to stabilize the security situation in Haiti.

On Wednesday, he held talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which the crisis in Haiti was among the issues discussed.

Dr Holness said there is a need for a significant increase in resources to the Haitian National Police to target gangs.

Jamaica has a contingent of 24 members of the security forces in Haiti.

They are providing critical operational and planning support to the multinational security support mission headquarters. The officers were deployed on September 12, last year.
