PM Holness says the challenge facing governments is how to increase the wage bill of public sector workers without increasing borrowing
Prime Minister and Jamaica Labour Party Leader Dr. Andrew Holness says the challenge facing Government is how to increase the wage bill of public sector workers without increasing borrowing.
Speaking at a JLP meeting in St. Thomas last night, Dr. Holness said he was approached by a teacher who asked that a better wage offer be made to teachers.
Among other things he explained that over the years, wage freezes have been implemented for public sector workers, mainly after wage increases were granted.
The Party Leader stated that the Government undertook the largest ever increase in public sector wages over four years.
Dr. Holness accused the PNP of seeking to reintroduce what he describes as fiscal recklessness through its various promises.
