PM Holness says new term is about succession and transition planning
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has indicated that the new term is about succession and transition planning, as he is aware that some Government members have exit timelines.
Speaking at the Swearing Ceremony for the Cabinet today, Dr. Holness acknowledged that some of the persons appointed to serve in the new Cabinet will at some point in the future leave politics.
He noted Daryl Vaz among them.
Mr. Vaz, who retains his portfolio as Minister of Transport, Telecommunications and Energy, has stated that this will be his last run in politics.
He contested his last general election on September 3, and reclaimed his West Portland seat, contributing to the Jamaica Labour Party securing a third term in Government.
Dr. Holness noted that planning ensures renewal in leadership.
The Prime Minister noted that in time, this renewal will shape not only the composition of Government , but also how it operates.
