PM Holness says Jamaica stands to gain from Dr. Nigel Clarke’s appointment to the IMF
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says Jamaica stands to gain from the appointment of Dr. Nigel Clarke as Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, IMF.
Dr. Clarke announced his resignation as Member of Parliament for North West St. Andrew and Finance Minister last evening while at a Jamaica Labour Party meeting in the constituency.
His resignation will take effect at midnight, as he gets set to take up office at the IMF on Thursday October 31.
Speaking at the JLP meeting, Mr. Holness said while Jamaica will be losing its Minister of Finance, it will gain much more from Dr. Clarke’s appointment at the IMF.
He said Dr. Clarke is leaving a legacy behind.
The Prime Minister said that legacy is an investment in Jamaica’s people and systems.
