PM Holness says Jamaica must position itself to take advantage of opportunities that may arise due to changes in the global landscape
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says Jamaica must position itself to take advantage of opportunities that may arise due to changes in the global landscape.
The world has been reacting to the imposition of import tariffs by the United States.
Recently, the United States imposed tariffs on many countries including Jamaica.
The new taxes on imports from Jamaica is 10 per cent.
China and U-S remain in what has been dubbed a tariff war, with the countries imposing new tariffs on each other.
The U-S imposed tariffs of 145 per cent on China, while the Asian country has imposed reciprocal tariffs of 125 per cent.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for Kingsway Gateway Warehouse Complex this morning, Dr. Holness noted that while this situation may cause fear, Jamaica must be able to withstand and absorb shocks and seize opportunities that come.
