Jamaica is safer than it was 20 years ago.

That’s according to Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness.

Noting that last Christmas period was the safest in 2 decades, with just 6 murders in the week of December 22-28, 2024, Dr. Holness said the country is expected to continue seeing a reduction in murders.

Dr. Holness was making his contribution to the Budget Debate this afternoon.

One hundred and fifty-eight murders were recorded in Jamaica up to Saturday March 15, 70 fewer than the 228 recorded in the same period last year.
