PM Holness says it’s still his vision to ensure peace in Jamaica so citizens can sleep with their windows and doors open

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says he will not retract his comment about Jamaicans being able to sleep with their windows and doors open because it represents the vision he has for the country.

Leading up to the 2016 General Election when Mr. Holness was the Opposition Leader, he made the campaign promise that Jamaicans could sleep with their windows and doors open, with the goal of a peaceful society being achieved if the Jamaica Labour Party won the election.

Dr. Holness has served two terms in office since then, and some people remain doubtful that Jamaica’s crime issue has been addressed properly.

However, speaking at the Expo Jamaica event in Kingston last evening, the Prime Minister cited the 35 per cent reduction in murders so far this year.

He assured that he is committed to fulfilling his promise as it is important for Jamaicans to aspire to this ideal and not settle for less than they deserve.

He maintained that Jamaicans deserve peace and safety.
