It may take the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) about 6 months to fully restore power to every community, following disruption due to Hurricane Melissa.

That indication came from Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness while at a press briefing yesterday.

Dr Holness pointed out that there is a possibility that the timeframe could be shorter, if the JPS gets the necessary resources.

This includes getting about 900 linemen to help with restoration efforts.

About 600 linemen are already in Jamaica, but some are set to leave soon.

Dr Holness said the Government is working with the JPS to bring in an additional 300 linemen.
