PM Holness says gov’t continues to work on a peace strategy
Jamaica Labour Party leader and Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the government continues to work on a strategy for ensuring peace in the country.
He made the statement while speaking during a Young Jamaica general meeting at the University of the West Indies, last evening.
Noting that a recent review of Brand Jamaica revealed that the country is under performing in four of 5 areas globally, Mr. Holness said violence is the main reason for this.
He said it is therefore important that Jamaica works to reduce violence.
Mr. Holness said announcements regarding the peace strategy will be made soon.
In recent days Jamaica has recorded several incidents of crime and violence.
On Monday, 5 people were shot and killed in Rockfort, East Kingston.
