PM Holness says any credit the PNP could get for contributing to Jamaica’s fiscal discipline has been wiped out
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says any credit the People’s National Party (PNP) could get for contributing to Jamaica’s fiscal discipline has been wiped out.
On Tuesday during the Budget Debate, Opposition Leader, Mark Golding argued that it was a previous PNP administration which was responsible for the policies and programmes, that set Jamaica on a sustainable fiscal path.
Mr. Golding said the current Jamaica Labour Party administration is merely continuing the PNP’s work.
In making his contribution to the Budget Debate this afternoon, Dr. Holness said the PNP created debt crises.
The Prime Minister however acknowledged that the PNP took steps to address the issues, after the JLP made the first steps.
He said the JLP administration continued the steps and completed them.
He said PNP is not the father of fiscal discipline.
Dr. Holness said that distinction belongs to former JLP Leader and Prime Minister, Bruce Golding.
