PM Holness pledges to eliminate unnecessary public bureaucracy as part of efforts to prevent corruption
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has pledged that his administration will take steps to rid the government of unnecessary public bureaucracy, stating that it creates inefficiency which in turn leads to corruption.
He made the comments while delivering the keynote address at the official opening of the Parnassus Agro Park and the commissioning of the Parnassus Irrigation System in Clarendon today.
Dr. Holness noted that, oftentimes, projects and programmes take too long to be completed, including the Parnassus project, which was two years behind schedule.
He said the delays were due mainly to unnecessary public bureaucracy.
He stressed the importance of government systems and processes being more agile.
The Prime Minister pointed out that efficiency is the best way to deal with corruption.
