Prime Minister Andrew Holness has ordered an investigation into the issue concerning some 100 ventilators which were donated during the pandemic.

The ventilators were gifted to Jamaica, to aid COVID-19 patients with respiratory issues.

The Opposition has raised questions about the status of the ventilators following the recent death of a newborn who was unable to access one of the machines.

Opposition Spokesman on Health, Dr. Alfred Dawes wants clarity on the matter.

Mr. Holness says he is disturbed about the issue and awaits a detailed report on the situation.

He was speaking on day three of the 10th Biennial Diaspora Conference in Montego Bay, St. James, today. 

The Health Ministry in a statement late last week, said all ventilators that were donated to the

Government as part of the country’s COVID-19 response are accounted for and are at our facilities islandwide.
