PM Holness, Dr. Chang and Police Commissioner visit Waltham Park Road, following last evening’s deadly shootings
Prime Minister Andrew Holness, National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang and Police Commissioner, Dr. Kevin Blake are doing a walk through in Waltham Park Road, St. Andrew, following 2 deadly shooting incidents in the community, last evening.
6 people were shot, 5 fatally in separate incidents, in the 75 and 83 Lane communities.
The incidents reportedly took place less than 1 hour apart.
It is not clear if both incidents are connected.
In the first incident at around 7:30 pm, 24 year old David Mardner was shot and killed by gunmen in the 75 lane community.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
About 30 minutes later on 83 lane, five persons were shot, 4 of them fatally.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.
Head of the Police Corporate Communication Network, Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay says investigators are trying to determine a motive for the attacks.
She says police presence has been ramped up in the area.
