Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says he is confident Jamaica will be able to stage the most phenomenal reconstruction of the economy, following the passage of Hurricane Melissa. 

The Prime Minister made the statement during an interview at yesterday’s staging of the “I love Jamaica” virtual concert and telethon. 

The Prime Minister was speaking on a virtual call from the G20 summit in South Africa.

According to Dr. Holness, while Melissa has impacted Jamaica significantly, the situation will be used as an opportunity to build resilience. 

He said his presence at the meeting was to also mobilize international support for the relief effort. 

Dr. Holness said he met with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and several world leaders who have all pledged their support.
